MLAstro Slit replacement program

In line with MLAstro’s commitment to serving our customers to the best of my ability, I’m announcing a slit replacement program covering two specific cases:

A. Flat-Mounted Slits

Some flat-mounted slits may cause a visible banding in the middle of the Sun when imaging in CaH/CaK. I already have a list of affected customers and will be sending out free replacement slits in the coming week, along with an email detailing the replacement process. Both the slit and shipping are free of charge. This only affect a small number of users in 3rd batch.

If you have a flat-mounted slit and did not receive my replacement email, please contact me at trong.minh@mlastro.com. The replacement email is expected to be sent after 18 August, once I return from my overseas trip.

B. Slits with Narrow Back Opening

The latest slit design features a larger back opening, making it easier to access and clean if dust ever settles on the slit. Some early units (mostly from the first and some in the second batches) have the older narrow-opening design. While this does not affect normal operation, I’m offering a free upgrade to the latest design for those who prefer it.

For this upgrade, only a $20 shipping fee applies (you can have it shipped free if you buy the 10mm slit. The replacement slit will be shipped together with the 10mm slit for free).
