Starting from Batch 3 (Jan 15, 2025), we recommend using the 2" to M42 nosepiece instead of the 1.25" version for a sturdier connection. All unshipped orders that included the 1.25" nosepiece will be automatically upgraded to the 2" version at no extra cost.
The input of the SHG uses a T2 female thread (M42x0.75), and to connect the SHG body to your telescope, you'll need a 1.25" to M42 nosepiece. Any standard nosepiece of this type will work, so if you already have one, there's no need to purchase an additional adapter.
Included in the SHG package is a special M42 to 1.25" nosepiece. This is specifically designed for connecting classic planetary cameras, such as the ASI178MM, to the SHG output. It's important not to confuse this adapter with the one for the telescope connection, as they may look similar. The adapter included with the SHG has a larger inner diameter and a thinner wall to ensure compatibility with the camera connection.
